It is no accident that God has placed our church in its present location at 3660 West Henrietta Road. We are located strategically in the midst of hundreds of thousand residents. God’s purpose is that our church will become a shining light for Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Put it simply, you can function as the mouth piece, hand or feet for God in this world. Here is an important truth: The body works best when all its parts work together. We have different gifts and abilities, and we have different jobs to do (Romans 12:4-5).
This year, we are focusing heavily on growing our church numerically and spiritually and I prayerfully share with you the following recommendations:
1) See yourself as the “core” of our church and can be counted on for your regular attendance; 2) Cultivate friendship with people who are Christians or church goers. People who do not attend church are likely to have plans that do not involve church. Guess what? This is called personal or friendship evangelism; 3) Call a neighbor a week in advance and invite them to accompany you to church and follow up with them throughout the week; 4) Call fellow church members who are weak in attendance and remind them about church worship service this coming Sunday. The truth is that fellow church members are less likely to be absent if they know somebody misses them; and 5) Pray daily for your church. Make intercessions daily for your pastor, moderator, deacons, choristers, and the various committees/boards.
Some of us are by nature encouragers, while some have to make special effort. Nonetheless, it is required of us to encourage one another to become our better selves. St. Matthew 10:24-25 encourages us with the words: And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the “Day of the Lord” approaching.
Let’s experience what God has in store for us at West Henrietta Baptist Church for 2019!
Let us endeavor to experience the power of God in a new way. Quench not the Holy Spirit!
Let our desire be to experience the moving of the Holy Spirit in our personal lives and corporate worship in a new way! Get excited about living for Jesus and being a faithful servant!
Let our prayer and song be, “Take my life and let it be, consecrated Lord to Thee.”
