God is intentional and purposeful about all that He does, and we need to acknowledge this reality with the location of our church at 5660 West Henrietta Road. His purpose is that we may become a shining light, the salt of the earth, the light of the world, and reflect His likeness in the world. We praise God for making us members of the body of Christ. As head of the church He leads the body and He orchestrates its movements. St. Paul tells us that we are connected not only to Him, but also to every other part of the body as well. "God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as He wanted them to be" (1 Corinthians 12:18).
Our communities have many people who are depressed, discouraged, frustrated, and hopeless and they need encouragement. Some of us are by nature encouragers, while some have to make special effort. Nonetheless, it is required of us to encourage one another to become our better selves. St. Matthew 10:24-25 encourages us with the words: And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day of the Lord approaching.
My prayer is that we all work to accomplish God’s plan and purpose for our church in 2018. God is calling us to be His stewards, coworkers, ambassadors, and gardener. Here are my five requests of you: 1) avail yourself to be the “core” of the church and can be counted on for your regular attendance; 2) assume a leadership role among your friends and colleagues and allow God to use you to encourage, nurture them, or lead them to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ 3) Call a neighbor every week, a few days before Sunday, and invite them to accompany you to church. Follow up with them throughout the week; 4) Call fellow church members who are weak in attendance and remind them about church worship service. The truth is that fellow church members are less likely to be absent if they know somebody misses them; and 5) Pray daily for your church. Make intercessions daily for your pastor, moderator, deacons, choristers, and the various committees/boards.
